It figures

Here's something that anyone riding a bicycle on a regular basis would guess....

We be ridin'

The ride this weekend is 1PM Saturday from Peak. It is to be a civil Deutsche Fahrradfahrt (right....like that'll ever happen).

More reasons....

Ok, so I was feeling a little embarrassed about not going to the KLM race-after all, it had "epic" conditions. After seeing what happened to Steve Tilford, I look at the decision as extremely wise.

High Command

Here are some dedicated OVC'ers manning the central command post. Never has a race gone so smoothly. The only thing these fellas are better at is riding their two-wheelers! Take a look on the right at Mechanicsville. Two men enter...one man leaves!

Omaha Beach II

I like the going to the beach, but not in November in Bugaha. I know what Kef is thinking, "Slogging thru this stuff is a beach!"

I'm in like Flint.

OK. Thanks for the guidance, mathguy. I've got some pix from the cyclocross event our club sponsored. Look at the orange-clad OVC'ers suffering for the good of the club!

Whadda know...the Times discovered c-x last weekend in this article.
There's nice slide show to go with it (you'll probably have to register to read it).

More pix from Iowa City...

Aaron Pool of Lincoln Plating/Lemond. He rode the U23 L-B-L this year, and is riding the U23 Tour of Flanders next year. Talk about a lucky guy....

Doug Swanson, winner on the second day, and Steve Tilford, last year's winner.

On my way to the buildings maze and the finish line.

Jingle Cross Rocks!

Headed out to Hawkeye Land for a weekend of suffering and things turned out ok. Snagged a podium spot in 45+ Masters on Saturday and 4th for the Sunday race. The course had everything-barriers, nasty climbs (Sat) and run-ups (Sun), rides through buildings, sanded livestock stalls, gravel. Definitely the most entertaining course I've ridden-it was fun. The big hill (Mt. Krumpet, or so named by the race guys) was a big help--made up huge gouts of time on other competitors. First time I've gone into the last couple of laps racing and not just surviving.

Lots of Omaha and Lincoln folks cheered each other on this weekend. MOD finished 4th in single speed, sydney_b really hammered the elite women-3rd (!) Sat and 2nd (!!) Sun, beating the pros, including Megan Elliott. Aaron Pool and Tony Wilhelm rode well in the elite men's race, as did Kevin Limpach in 3/4s and Shim in 35+ Masters. Chris Horner won the elite men going away on Saturday, but Sunday Doug Swanson hammered everybody with a couple of laps to go. Horner was impressive Saturday-his speed on the flats was incredible. Guess that's what TdF guys are supposed to do.

Winding down for the winter

Off on a 50 miler with Stick & Mr. Vance today. Hammered out to Calhoun, eased off on the way back. Looks like preparation for the State CX race are going well....
